University of Washington bioengineers have developed a technology that could help better protect women from contracting HIV.
The secret is using a new fabric to deliver high doses of a drug currently being tested for staving off the infection.
Scientists use a method of weaving the drug into silk-like fibers that dissolve quickly when inserted into the vagina before sex, delivering a higher dose than is possible with other topical methods currently being tested.
