For Aubrei McGinn, it started the way it often does — with a lump.
On Aug. 21, 2012, she discovered an uninvited, golf-ball-sized lump that had failed to introduce itself when it moved into her left breast.
The diagnosis arrived later: invasive ductal carcinoma and infiltrative lobular cancer. Altogether, doctors found three tumors, ranging between 1.5 and 7 centimeters. The cancer had also spread to 12 lymph nodes.
