Dr. King Holmes, an internationally recognized expert in global health and sexually transmitted diseases, is leaving his role as chairman of the University of Washington's Department of Global Health.
Holmes founded the program at UW and has been instrumental in making this region a national leader in global health. His 45 years of work in this field began during the Vietnam War, when the Navy drafted him to work on epidemics and infectious disease.
