The Obama administration has delayed a consumer protection provision in the Affordable Care Act that would limit the out-of-pocket cost of care.
The annual limit was supposed to be $6,350 for an individual and $12,700 for a family, including deductibles and co-payments. But the federal government — in a ruling earlier this year that was little noticed until this week — is giving some insurance companies an extra year with higher limits, or in some cases no limits, on consumer costs.
