Insurance Commissioner Mike Kreidler announced Thursday that his office has approved four insurance companies to operate in the new Washington state health exchange.
People will be able to start using the Washington Healthplanfinder to shop for individual insurance coverage on Oct. 1, when open enrollment begins. That coverage will kick in on Jan. 1, 2014. Coverage for small business owners won’t be available in most of Washington until 2015.
