Washington is receiving $6.3 million to expand the state’s pipeline of new primary care doctors.
It’s part of a national $83.4 million initiative announced Monday by Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Sylvia Mathews Burwell, who is also the former president of the Global Development Program at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
The money will expand primary care programs to train more than 550 residents at 60 different teaching health centers across the country.
