Washington State University’s interest in opening its own medical school has ignited a turf war with the University of Washington.
So far, the public conversation is polite. Yet, not far beneath the surface, the tension is palpable.
Citing a worsening doctor shortage, WSU wants to open an independent medical school in Spokane, 75 miles away from its Pullman campus. A $250,000 feasibility study is due at the end of June.
