Seattle Children’s Hospital incorporated the architectural trend of “lean design” when creating the 330,000-square-foot Building Hope, a new expansion that opened this week.
The concept involves designing space that can be used most efficiently for its intended purpose. In other words, a hospital design needs to make it easy for nurses and doctors to quickly and efficiently get to patients, medicine and equipment.
It seems pretty obvious, but a lot of thought goes into the process.
